First Time Jailbreak, a few questions before I start

Hi all,

Been reading as many resources as I can before starting the jailbreak process, I'm a total noob and would appreciate some help before I start. I'm currently on 4.81 and plan to manually update to 4.82 to install CFW on a PS3 slim.

I don't want to risk a ban of my main PSN account and don't plan on going online with this PS3, as least on my main account. I'm also planning on installing a new hard drive into the system, so I'm really wondering what the best approach for all of this...
