I have a PS3 with CFW. Its never been online with CFW. I am now only interested in using it for a media hub. I like using showtime as opposed to the PS3 media player. I want to use it online so I can use Pandora and other apps. If I never play game on it what is the risk of getting banned? Thanks

Hacking options for a true debug PS3?
What options exist for hacking a debug PS3? I have a backward-compatible actual Debugging Station (DECH-A00A).
I've heard that it's possible to play Blu-Ray movies on DEX firmware now, but I don't know whether that applies to Debugging Stations.
I can disable HDCP for games on this system, right?

Using El Gato HD 60 to capture PS3 w/ CFW, is there a way to disable HDCP?

So I bought an El Gato HD 60 to capture some PS3 footage. Now I know technically it doesn't support the PS3, but I know of the workaround with certain HDMI splitters to remove the HDCP. My question is, since this PS3 is running CFW, is there a way to disable HDCP so that I can cut out having to buy an HDMI splitter? Thanks in advance for your input.

Updating ferrox 4.66 (i think) NOOB!!!!

I bought a CFW ps3 a couple of years ago and have no idea about the hack (PSP was the last time i jailbroke anything). But in the settings it states "PS3 system firmware 4.66 (BD-ROM Emulator) running Multiman 04.66.06. Obviously the Ferrox screen is in the background so i assume its his CFW.
Now in the last 2 years its played 99% of any ps3 games no probs, most PSN games but couldnt get ps2 to work (not an issue), but its not been touched in a couple of months, but my wee...

Hi,
I'm new to Homebrew and the PS3, and I want to ask some questions about jailbreaking my PS3 Super-Slim model.
I have Version 4.78 (Latest) on my PS3 and have never jailbroken anything before (although I will be JB'ing my iPhone 5c when the 9.2.1 JB is out).
Some questions:
What tutorials are there to installing CFW to the PS3 on 4.78?
What would the best CFW be? I'm mainly looking to have emulators, while also having access to Netflix, Amazon, etc.
Will this lose my game...

4.80 Official Firmware
Sony has greeted its user's of the PS3 with a new Official Firmware Update as 4.80 OFW has been released to the masses. What has been added to this firmware from Sony? Your guess is as good as anyone's as the manufacture displays the tired old line "This system software update improves system performance" .

Need some expert opinions before updating to cfw 4.80 ...
My ps3 is on Ferrox 4.78 (CEX), with irisman (3.50.8) and psnpatch, and have a ntfs external drive with some backups (ISO). My kid plays some backups online (mainly fifa 16) with the help of psnpatch and i didn't have an issue so far. So, when the ofw 4.80 come out, i stopped go online, and waited for the new cfws to appear.
What i want is to keep playing online (using irisman and psnpatch) ...
At this point, we have 4.81 Rebug...

Hi all. I have been wondering... The latest patcher I have is "PS3 Nor and Nand Auto Patcher v4.70-Fixed By darkjiros" which is for 4.70 and lower. If I had a hackable ps3 that was on 4.78 or 4.80 OFW, is it possible to "Jailbreak" it or not? I've been telling a friend not to get a unit that is past 4.70 because of this reason. FYI, I do own an E3 Flasher, and have hacked a couple slims successfully in the past.

Looking for insight on CECHB Jailbroken PS3
I recently acquired a barely used CECHB model PS3 (Fat 20GB BC PS3) that I was able to jailbreak with the help of PSX-Place!! It's currently running Habib Starbucks 4.78 with COBRA 7.2 & webMAN MOD.
