I was having the same problem as this guy.
I opened up my ps3 so I could turn those two white screws on the power supply.

Like an idiot I forgot to unplug the ps3, I touched a peace of metal and fried power supply unit. Unrelated, but does anybody know what the original problem with the ps3 was?
