I just tried to download the official PKG files just for the sake of experiments, in this case it was an old PS1 game. First try to install it - just endless "please wait", had to switch off the console. Then I discovered http://www.psx-place.com/threads/trueancestor-pkg-repacker-v2-45-by-jjkkyu.10067/ and played around with it a bit. Repacked the PKG file - and it could get installed finally. Then I used React PSN to install the proper RAP file. So far so good.
