i fucked up hard and ps3 asking me to format hard drive.

I bought a larger 1tb hard drive and somone told me to copy data from original hdd to new one.I plugged in my old ps3 hard drive and i just realised its encrypted and windows wont read it but in doing so i think i did something and now my ps3 asking me to format my hard drive.
i am feel so fucking mad,did windows fucked me over? did i just lose all my save files,games,screenshots?
and if so can i just plug in my new hard drive and usb with cfw and start all over again?
