Cases where you need CFW vs. where HEN is good enough

Until we get bgtoolset back HEN is the only option. HEN is usually good enough in most cases, as it will allow you to play homebrew (including managers such as multiman and webman) and backups. I've decided to compile a list of things where HEN is not enough, and you need a CFW. Only if you require one of the following use cases you really need a CFW, otherwise just install HEN.
