Upgrade to 4.87 ofw before jailbreak or stay at 4.75?

I am new to ps3 cfw and I'm not sure if I should update my ofw from 4.75 to the latest (4.87) before I jailbreak and install cfw. Are there any advantages to either of them? I have a fat ps3 and in case my planed uses for the cfw ps3 matter I wan't to use it to play my games from backups, use it as a region free DVD/Blu Ray player, and possibly emulation of older systems.
